Did the Holland Tunnel Collapse?
On the morning of Friday, May 13, 1949, a hazardous materials truck caught fire while passing through the Holland Tunnel, which travels under the Hudson River between New York City and New Jersey. One firefighter was killed and 66 civilians were injured as a result of the fire.

Why is the Holland Tunnel closed?
Date: September 17, 2021: Due to ongoing Superstorm Sandy-related repairs, the New York-bound tube of the Holland Tunnel will be closed on Monday, Sept. 20, from 11 p.m. through 5 a.m. the following morning, and on multiple overnights each week through spring 2022.
